Biography
BS, MS Murray State University; PhD University of Louisville. My background is in microbiology. He have studied nitrogen fixation in an Agrobacterium species isolated from the Ledbetter Embayment. This was followed by the discovery of an atmospheric nitrogen acquisition process in the corn smut-causing fungus, Ustilago maydis. Using stable isotope ratio analysis He demonstrated that corn smut is able to uptake and metabolize dinitrogen tracer subsequently utilized by the cells as incorporated biomolecules.
