Biography

  Dr. Myron L. Weisfeldt, M.D., also known as Mike, is a William Osler Professor, the Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Physician-in-Chief at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Weisfeldt serves as Special Advisor of KBL Healthcare Acquisition Corp III. From 1991 to 2001, he was the Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Samuel Bard Professor of Medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Director of the Medical Service at the Columbia-Presbyterian Campus of the New York Presbyterian Hospital. From 1987 to 1990, Dr. Weisfeldt was the Chairman of the Cardiology Advisory Board of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and held the position of the President of the American Heart Association in 1990. From 1975 to 1991, he was a Director of the Cardiology Division at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Weisfeldt has broad interests in cardiovascular drugs and devices and served on the Scientific Advisory Board of a major pharmaceutical company and serves on the Boards of a number of cardiovascular device companies. He serves as a Member of Scientific & Advisory Board at KBL Merger Corp. IV. He serves as a Member of the Advisory Board at KBL Healthcare Ventures. Dr. Weisfeldt serves as also a Member of MPM BioVentures Medical and Scientific Advisory Board. He serves as a member of the Institute of Medicine. Dr. Weisfeldt has served on the advisory boards of healthcare companies including Merck & Co., Inc (NYSE:MRK), InControl, Inc., CardioLogic, Inc., Cambridge Heart, Inc., and CHF Solutions (Intellicardia, Inc.) as well as several portfolio companies in which KBL funds were invested. He was a Member of Advisory Board of MPM Capital. Dr. Weisfeldt was recently elected to the prestigious Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Circulation. Dr. Weisfeldt has recently been appointed by the NIH and the Department of Defense to be the Study Chair for a large-scale clinical trials network to conduct randomized definitive trials of devices, drugs and other therapies over the next five years. He trained in Cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Weisfeldt holds an M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He received a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
