Biography

Appointed: Joined the Board on 1 April 2014 and became Chief Executive with effect from 1 April 2016 Tenure: 3 years Committee membership: F Career and skills: John joined the Company in 1991 and progressed through a variety of roles before joining the Board as UK Executive Director in 2014. With over 25 years of varied experience at National Grid, his previous roles include Director of Engineering in the UK, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for the US Electricity Distribution & Generation business, Chief Operating Officer for UK Gas Distribution and UK Chief Operating Officer from 2012 to 2014. John’s extensive experience within the Company brings to the Board a deep understanding of the energy and utilities industry and operation within a regulatory environment as well as a full appreciation of the landscape National Grid works in.
