Peter C. Chu was Distinguished Professor and Chair in Department of Oceanography. PhD - University of Chicago, 1985 Geophysics. GESEA Meritorious Award for Research, Naval Postgraduate School, 2009 and utstanding Instructional Performance Award, Naval Postgraduate School, 2000.

Research Interest in Naval Ocean Analysis and Prediction, P-vector Inverse Method, 3D Mine Impact Burial Prediction, First Passage Time for Model Predictability, Ocean Optimal Spectral Decomposition (OSD), Three-Point Sixth-Order Numerical Schemes and 3D Underwater Bomb Trajectory Prediction.
