He has volunteered as a member of various public boards and committees, including the Appearance Commission of Raleigh, N.C., the editorial board of Landscape Architecture Magazine, and the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board. As the coordinator of the Landscape Architecture Program, Dr. Crawford is responsible for program accreditation, curriculum, faculty assignments, outreach, recruitment, and a number of other duties. He teaches courses at all levels of the program. Dr. Crawford is one of the few researchers to have concentrated on the history and philosophy of design education.
