Kevin J Connolly
Professor
Department of Energy
Oak Ridge National Laboratory
United States of America
Biography
Dr. Kevin Connolly supports the Used Fuel Systems Group at ORNL where he works on issues related to the transportation of spent nuclear fuel and high level radioactive waste, including development of methods for estimating public radiation dose from spent fuel transportation, analysis of potential transportation routes, and study of the transportation infrastructure and equipment needs at shutdown commercial nuclear power plant sites. Prior to joining ORNL in 2014, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at Georgia Tech. His research was focused on the development of computational radiation transport methods for reactor physics. In addition to his research, he taught courses on introductory reactor physics and radiation sources and applications. He is a 2009 fellow of DOE’s Nuclear Energy University Program and graduated with his Ph.D. in nuclear and radiological engineering from Georgia Tech in 2012.
