Biography
Mr. Michael L. Smith, also known as Mike, has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Oglethorpe Power Corp. since November 06, 2013. Mr. Smith served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Georgia Transmission Corporation until December 20, 2013. He served as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance & Administration at Georgia Transmission Corporation since October 2003. He served as Executive Director for the Committee of Chief Risk Officers (CCRO), a non- profit trade association he co-founded to compile best risk management practices and standards for the energy industry. Prior to this, he served as Global Risk Control Officer for Mirant and was through its transition from Vastar Resources to its merger with Southern Company Energy Marketing. He serves as a Director of ACES. Mr. Smith has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Law and Master of Business Administration in Finance from Louisiana State University.
