Biography
As an assistant professor of mathematics education at Illinois State University, Dr. Cottrill received the College Teaching Initiative Award in 2001. He received a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Akron, and a PhD in Mathematics Education from Purdue University. He was elected the organizational director of the Special Interest Group of the Mathematical Association of America (SIGMAA) on Research in Undergraduate Education, and served as a panelist at the Third Research in Undergraduates Mathematics Education Conference. Cottrill is a member of the Mathematical Association of America and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
