Biography

Dr. Janette Knowles is the program chair of Art and Design and the director of Wehrle Gallery at Ohio Dominican University. She spent the first part of her career in museum education and has worked at the Wexner Center for the Arts, the Columbus Museum of Art, and the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. More recently she worked in the 16th and 17th century archives of the Dutch East India Company at the UNESCO World Heritage Plantin-Moretus Museum. She presents and does workshops on historic painting techniques and the evolving discipline of post-war art conservation. She holds a B.A. in Art History and Anthropology from Kent State University, an M.A. in Art History from The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Art Education from The Ohio State University.
