Biography
Dr. Liu is recognized internationally for his research on immune recognition of cancer and activation of lymphocytes, the main immune defender against cancer. He has received the Markey Scholar Award (1992), and the Sears Scholar Award (1993), and Snyder Award for Cancer Research (2015) and was elected to the rank of fellow at the American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 2004 for his pioneering contribution to Innate Immunity, T cell costimulation and cancer immunology. Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. from the Australian National University, and postdoctoral fellowship from Yale University. Dr. Liu is currently director for Center for Cancer and Immunology Research at the Children’s National Medical Center and Bosworth Professor for Cancer Biology and Transplantation Immunology at the Department of Pediatrics, Children’s National Medical Center and George Washington University.
