Biography
Janine joined PetroStrat in September 2012, after submitting her Ph.D. in Carboniferous palynology and palaeobotany at the University of Sheffield, U.K. (part funded by the National Museum Wales, Cardiff). Her multi-disciplinary Ph.D. focussed on the neglected Bristol Coalfield of south-west Britain, incorporating both traditional biostratigraphic dating, as well as more novel in-depth studies of sedimentological facies and their effect on vegetational palaeoecology. She is actively involved in on-going work to expand and refine Carboniferous biozonation schemes of Western Europe, specialising in the Namurian-aged Bowland Shale Formation. Large parts of her Ph.D. have already been published in a series of papers, with plans to publish the concluding part soon. She has since extended her commercial knowledge to encompass the rest of the Palaeozoic of the Euramerica palaeocontinent, and is gaining experience with the disparate palynological assemblages from Gondwana (Middle East, South America). She has completed over ten offshore deployments in the North Sea, both Central and Southern North Sea, as well as onshore Eastern Europe.
