Marcel Polling

Biography

 Marcel joined PetroStrat in September 2013 having completed a B.Sc. in Earth Sciences and a M.Sc. in Biogeology at the University of Utrecht (the Netherlands). During his studies his main interest were the periods of extreme global warmth in the Tertiary, having studied the ‘Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM)’ and the ‘Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum (MECO)’. Marcel also completed a research project at the University of California in Santa Cruz (USA), where he created a high-resolution stable isotope record on a cored Eocene section from a well on the Walvis Ridge (ODP Leg 208, offshore SW Africa). From this work, Marcel has been included as a co-author in several peer-reviewed papers. Since joining PetroStrat, Marcel has mainly been working on Tertiary well sections from the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Gulf of Mexico areas and has gained significant wellsite experience in the UK sector. He has recently worked on Jurassic palynology from the GoM.
