Biography

Mr. Ian C. Read has been the Chief Executive Officer of Pfizer Inc., since December 5, 2010. Mr. Read served as the President of Pfizer Inc. from December 5, 2010 to December 12, 2011. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Thiakis Limited. He served as Group President of Worldwide Biopharmaceutical Businesses at Pfizer Inc., since October 2009. Mr. Read served as Senior Vice President of Pfizer Inc. from August 2006 to December 5, 2010. He served as President of Worldwide Pharmaceutical Operations at Pfizer Inc. from August 2006 to October 2009. He joined Pfizer in 1978 and serves as its member of the Executive Leadership Team. He is responsible for Pfizer's global worldwide pharmaceutical business. As his career progressed he gained significant international experience. He has held various positions of increasing responsibility in pharmaceutical operations. He served as an Area President of Europe, Canada, Africa and Middle East, Senior Vice President of the Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Group and Executive Vice President of Europe and Canada. Mr. Read served as President of the Latin American region and served as Corporate Vice President of Pfizer Inc., since April 2001. He has been the Chairman of Pfizer Inc. since December 12, 2011 and its Director since December 5, 2011. He has been an Independent Director at Kimberly-Clark Corporation since August 15, 2007 and its Lead Director since May 29, 2017. He serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of Thiakis Limited. Mr. Read is Pfizer's representative on the International Section Executive Committee of PhRMA and former chair of the Europe Committee. He holds a BSc. degree in Chemical Engineering from London University Imperial College in 1974.
