Biography
Dr. Ponnusamy is a neuroscientist with 20 years of research experience. He received his PhD from the Department of Psychopharmacology at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, India. After receiving PhD, he joined Brain Research Institute, University of California, Los Angeles, to pursue his postdoctoral research on fear and anxiety disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD). Later he directed neurobehavioral core research laboratories at UCLA and Gladstone Institutes, University of California, San Francisco and collaborated with a wide variety of laboratories to prevent, reduce or reverse cognitive dysfunctions in neurological and psychiatric diseases. Recently he was a health scientist at VA Palo Alto, Stanford University School of Medicine in the field of Down Syndrome. He has published numerous high-profile papers in the fields of PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Alzheimer’s disease. He is also an advisor to SPARK translational program at Stanford University.
