Biography

Mr. Richard K. Whitney, CPA, also known as Rich, serves as a Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Radiology Partners, Inc. He is the Founder and Managing Member of Whitney Capital LLC. He is an Advisor at Concourse Capital. Mr. Whitney is an Advisor NEA focusing on healthcare investments. Mr. Whitney also serves as a venture partner and venture advisor to NEA since 2007. Prior to Radiology Partners, he was a lead executive in the financial and operating turnaround of DaVita Inc., which created more than $3 billion of equity value between 2000 and 2003. As a Chief Financial Officer and senior advisor to the Chief Executive Officer of DaVita at various times between 2000 and 2012, he was integral in the growth of the company to its current $12 billion of revenue and more than $20 billion of enterprise value. He was a lead executive in the company’s financial and operating turnaround which created over billion of equity value for investors and led the acquisition by DaVita of Healthcare Partners. He most recently led DaVita's acquisition of Healthcare Partners. Previously, he served as an Executive Chairman of Specialty Labs, where he led the turnaround and successful sale of the company. Since the mid-2000s, he has been an investor, director and/or chairman of entrepreneurial healthcare companies in areas such as pathology, physician services, clinical laboratories, hospitals and behavioral health. He serves as a Director of Hospital Partners of America, Inc. and EBH Holding Company, Inc. He is also the Chairman of Radiology Partners, Inc. He served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Bariatric Partners, Inc. and Simplex Healthcare, Inc. He has spent virtually his entire career in healthcare services, where he has a long track record of leading, founding and/or investing in healthcare organizations that have led meaningful change in their segments. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration at Schreyer Honors College, Penn State University and his MBA at Harvard Business School.
