Biography
Dr. Leon Josephs joined Reliant Medical Group in 2001 and has held a number of key leadership positions. A highly skilled vascular surgeon, he became Division Chief of General and Vascular Surgery at Reliant in 2006. Dr. Josephs served as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Reliant from October, 2014 to February, 2015. He was also the Acting Chief Executive Officer from February 2015 to January 2016. Dr. Josephs was named Chief of Specialties in 2016. In addition to his work at Reliant Medical Group, Dr. Josephs is Chief of Surgery and Director of the Vascular Surgery Department at Saint Vincent Hospital. Dr. Josephs is also a member of the Board of Directors for Old Colony Hospice, a non-profit organization in Massachusetts that provides end-of-life care. A former lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, Dr. Josephs joined the Reserves prior to the events of 9/11 and served in Kuwait and Baghdad as part of a small, mobile surgical team. Dr. Josephs has long enjoyed instructing surgical residents, medical students and future advanced practitioners. He received the annual Brian Bednarz, MD Faculty Award from the University of Massachusetts Medical School Surgical Chief Residents in 2007 and the Surgical Faculty Teaching Award from the Boston University Chief Residents in 1995. A graduate of the Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Josephs performed his residency at Boston University Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in Gastrointestinal Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and his fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Boston University Medical Center.
