Biography
Mike Dunleavy is a legendary NBA head coach, retired American professional basketball player, and former general manager of the Los Angeles Clippers. Currently he is the new head coach of the Tulane University men’s basketball team. He is the father of professional basketball player Mike Dunleavy, Jr. Mike has been involved in the NBA since 1976, when he was drafted by Philadelphia. He played 11 seasons in the NBA. Philadelphia (1976-78), Houston (1978-82), San Antonio (1982-83) and Milwaukee (1983-85), (1988-90). He began his head-coaching career with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1990 where he took the Lakers to the finals in 1991. Mike went on to coach the Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trailblazers and Los Angeles Clippers. Mike won NBA Coach of the Year honors with the Trailblazers in 1999. He worked in the financial industry with Merrill Lynch part time as a player and full time on the Program Trading desk from 1985-87. In 2002, Mike served as the Managing Director at Taylor Companies. Mike serves on the Board of Directors of the Stratus Media Group.
