Julie C. Keller

Biography

Assistant Professor of Sociology Julie C. Keller’s research and teaching interests include transnational migration from Latin America, rural studies, and gender. Her work focuses on the incorporation processes of undocumented workers in new immigrant destinations. She is co-author of a New Labor Forum article Milking Workers, Breaking Bodies: Health Inequality in the Dairy Industry (Dec. 2016). She is working on a book manuscript entitled, Migration and Mobility: From Mexico to America’s Dairyland and Back. Keller earned her doctorate in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining the faculty at URI, Keller was a visiting assistant professor and Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Oberlin College in Ohio.
