Ramon Gonzalez

Biography

Dr. Gonzalez’s work has been published in many prestigious scientific journals, including Nature, Nature Biotechnology, Science, Nature Chemical Biology, Metabolic Engineering, ACS Synthetic Biology. He is the lead inventor in 25 patents and patent applications, co-founded Glycos Biotechnologies, Inc., and has given about 100 invited talks. In addition to his role as editor-in-chief of JIMB, Dr. Gonzalez is also a member of the editorial board of Science, Applied & Environmental Microbiology, Biotechnology Journal, Metabolic Engineering Communications, Applied Biochemistry & Biotechnology, and Food Biotechnology. He was the program chair of the 2011 annual meeting of the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB), served as a director in the SIMB's board of directors, and recently served as director of the Rice Energy and Environment Initiative. Dr. Gonzalez received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Chile, an M.S. in biochemical engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (Chile), and a B.S. in chemical engineering from the Central University of Las Villas (Cuba).
