David Caggiano

Biography

 Dave’s training and career experience as a mechanical engineer has spanned a wide variety of disciplines. From building and mechanical systems, to HVAC, plumbing, combustion, carbon monoxide testing, electrical, and manufacturing, he has both the fundamental knowledge and specialized skills to understand complex failures and injuries. Most recently as the senior project engineer for Horizon Engineering Associates, he acted as Commissioning Authority inspecting and testing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) equipment and systems in commercial buildings, including schools, office buildings, and hospitals. During his ten years as a product development engineer for the Burnham Corporation, he designed, prototyped, tested, and operated gas and oil fired burners, boilers, and combustion control systems. This included safety certification testing for UL and ETL. Dave is a licensed Professional Engineer in more than ten states as well as the District of Columbia. He is a certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, and former Merchant Mariner. He is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) as well as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
