Biography

Mike Wilkinson, MSN, CNP, FNP-BC is a native of Longview, TX and has been a Dermatology Nurse Practitioner for the last 9 years. Prior to dermatology, Mike worked in Emergency medicine for years. He graduated from University of Texas at Arlington in 1993. At Naval Officer Indoctrination School Mike was the Honor Graduate of 187 personnel. He spent many different tours with the Navy overseas and stateside working as a Nurse in Orthopedics, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, and Operational Medicine specializing in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and High-Yield Explosives, and also Family Practice and Wellness. He received his Masters Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2005 while he was stationed at NAS Corpus Christi and was the Honor Graduate of his class at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander after 23 years of military service, and his highest award was the Meritorious Service Medal. He started working in Emergency medicine in Texas and transferred to North Carolina. His passion became Dermatology, and in 2008 he accepted a one year internship from a Dermatologist and that started his current career. He worked in a very busy practice by himself in Smithfield, NC and Wilson, NC. Mike wanted to move to Alamogordo, NM because of the outdoor lifestyle. Mike is married to his wife Michelle and, he has two grown daughters. His hobbies are fishing, shooting, hunting, and riding bikes. Mike specializes in medical and surgical dermatology that includes the skin, hair, and nails. His passion is treating patients with skin cancers and difficult to treat itching conditions.
