Biography
Lela Buckingham, PhD, MB(ASCP), DLM(ASCP), is an assistant professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science. She earned her doctorate in molecular genetics and cell biology from the University of Chicago. Her responsibilities include teaching molecular techniques and molecular diagnostics. She has provided mentorship to students in the master’s degree program, and she has served as a member on various student thesis committees. Buckingham has written and co-written several book chapters and books, including Molecular Diagnostics: Fundamentals, Methods and Clinical Applications. She has been the principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous grants.
