Mr. Keith J. Smith

Biography

Mr. Keith J. Smith serves as Executive Vice-President at SABIC Innovative Plastics US LLC, a subsidiary of SABIC Innovative Plastics Holding BV. Mr. Smith served as an Executive Vice-President of Innovative Plastics at Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) since December 2011. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of SABIC Innovative Plastics US, LLC. Mr. Smith served as Vice President and General Manager of DuPont Engineering Polymers of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company since August 15, 2005 and its Vice President for sourcing and logistics. Since 2001, Mr. Smith served as Global Marketing Director of DuPont Engineering Polymers. With assignments in both the United States and Europe, he has served a number of engineering, planning, sales and business management positions. Since 2003, he served as global director of marketing, sales and development of DuPont. Mr. Smith joined DuPont in 1980 as a field engineer at Ei Dupont De Nemours & Co.'s titanium dioxide (TiO2) plant in Edge Moor, Del. He served several research supervisory positions at the Chambers Works in Deepwater, N.J., including leader of the aramids intermediates R&D group and the pilot plant engineering staff at the site's Jackson Laboratory that commercialized NuStar® fungicide and Teflon® AF. Mr. Smith also led the TiO2 research group that developed many of the processes used today to cost effectively manage the co-products from the production of TiO2. In 1989, Mr. Smith transferred to San Francisco to sell TiO2 to the paint and coatings market, followed by an assignment in development selling for specialty and industrial chemicals. He also managed the Western Region distributor network. Since 1992, Mr. Smith served as business manager of the methylamines, nitric acid, and formaldehyde businesses. In 1994, he was assigned to Corporate Plans as a strategy consultant, working with Engineering Polymers, Nylon and Lycra®. Since 1995, he served as manager of the aramids intermediates business and since 1997, served as global business director for specialty and performance chemicals in the DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise (DCSE). In 2000, he was named Six Sigma Champion for DCSE. He serves as Member of Supervisory Board of Sabic Capital II B.V. Mr. Smith received bachelor of science and masters degrees in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
