Biography
Dr. Peter Birnbaum joined Saint Agnes Medical Providers in April 2013 as a cardiothoracic surgeon. Prior to joining Saint Agnes Medical Providers, Dr. Birnbaum was in private practice in Fresno, California for nearly 20 years. He is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Birnbaum attended the University of Ottawa School of Medicine in Ottawa, Ontario before earning his master’s degree at the University of Toronto. He completed his surgical internship and clinical research fellowship in the cardiovascular surgical division at the Toronto General Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. He did his cardiovascular and thoracic surgical residency at the University of Toronto in Canada. Before practicing in the Central Valley, Dr. Birnbaum completed cardiovascular fellowships at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario and at Broussais Hospital in Paris, France.
