Biography
Dr. Jones obtained his B.S. in Chemistry with an Environmental option from the New Mexico Instituted of Mining and Technology in 1999. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Texas Tech University in 2004. He completed his post-doctoral research in the laboratory of Dr. X. Peter Zhang, at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He has most recently taught at the University of South Florida and the University of Tampa before coming to Saint Leo University.
Research Interest
He has taught a number of chemistry courses including: Introductory Chemistry, General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II, Introductory Biochemistry, Descriptive Inorganic Chemistry, and Environmental Chemistry. Dr. Jones’ research interests include inorganic catalysis involving metal porphyrin species. He also has interest in ultrasonic synthesis (sound chemistry), ionic liquids, environmental analysis, and photochemistry. He has six publications in peer reviewed journals and a patent application.
