Biography
Education: BSN, Northwest College, 2004; MN, University of Washington, 2008; PhD, Washington State University.2014; At SPU since 2014. April Morgenroth came to SPU in September of 2014 with 3 years of academic teaching experience, and 3 years as a clinical nurse educator serving critical care specialty areas. Ms. Morgenroth’s clinical background includes 9 years of service in pre-hospital emergency care and 10 years as a cardiothoracic critical care nurse. Ms. Morgenroth’s heart to be a “nurse for nurses” is evident throughout all aspects of her life — from her research on presenteeism among nurses with chronic illness to her active involvement with Nurses Christian Fellowship and nurse mentoring. Her passion to support and equip nurses for the sacred work of caring has led her across the globe developing and delivering training, curriculum, and encouragement to nurses in Rwanda, Mexico, and the United States. While at SPU, Ms. Morgenroth has taught adult medical/surgical nursing theory, and clinical as well as advanced clinical pathophysiology in the graduate nursing program.
