Christine Hoyle

Biography

Education: BSN, University of Iowa, 1973; MN FNP, University of Washington, 1979; DNP, University of Washington, 2008. At SPU since 2015. Dr. Christine Hoyle comes to SPU after teaching for more than 20 years at the University of Washington, where she taught nurse practitioner students and most recently in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. Her major teaching responsibilities included teaching core courses for DNP students, including courses in leadership and role development, health promotion, and immersion courses that integrate practice, leadership, and practice inquiry in the context of enhancing care systems delivery. Dr. Hoyle’s research interests include health behavior change, use of brief motivational interviewing in clinical practice, systems and population-based models of care for chronic disease self-management, medical home- and team-care, and inter-professional education using innovative teaching models. Dr. Hoyle is an advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP) with national certification as a family nurse practitioner (FNP). She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Washington in 2008. Her clinical work is with underserved, ethnically diverse patient populations in primary care community health settings. She has also been a consultant with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) to develop and administer a clinical licensing exam for nurse practitioners in British Columbia, and worked with CRNBC in the development of an NP Quality Assurance program for practicing nurse practitioners in BC.
