Biography
Education: BA, Western Washington University 1989; MS, Western Washington University, 1996; MA, Rosemead School of Psychology, Biola University, 1998; PsyD, Rosemead School of Psychology, Biola University, 2001. At SPU since 2005. Dr. Joey Collins’ areas of teaching include leadership, team, and organization development (OD). His specialties include OD consulting, executive coaching, gestalt, and psychodynamic therapy. At Seattle Pacific, he oversees a research program focused on transformational leadership, sales performance, and enhancing coaching conversations. Dr. Collins is president and founder of Collins Alliance and creator of Xcelperformance Performance Coaching. Collins Alliance is a boutique consulting company that serves a variety of industries, including health care, higher education, law practices, information technology, automotive, transportation, and agricultural wholesale-retail. Dr. Collins’ consulting usually begins in the C-suite working with leaders and their organizations. Dr. Collins’ clients include Veterans Health Administration, Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Maritz, Coinstar-Redbox, UW Medical Center-Harborview, Woodland Park Zoo, Alaska Department of Transportation, and Smith Gardens. Previously, he served as a post-doctoral fellow with the Veterans Health Affairs National Center for Organization Development delivering a variety of organization development interventions using a process consultation model for service delivery to VA medical centers and program offices throughout the United States. He also participated in the creation and delivery of the VHA all-employee survey that was delivered to over 188,000 VHA employees. Dr. Collins is a licensed clinical psychologist in Washington state and received his PsyD in clinical psychology from Biola University.
