Jeffrey Togman

Biography

Jeffrey M. Togman is an American filmmaker and political scientist. His most recent documentary We’re Not Blood, had its world premiere at the San Francisco Documentary Festival, and its international premiere in London at the Portobello Film Festival. We’re Not Blood was an official selection of the Atlanta International Documentary Film Festival, where it won the Best Dramatic Documentary Feature Award. The film will be broadcast on the Mexican public television series DOC 360°. Togman’s first film Home had its world premiere at the SilverDocs AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival (now AFI Docs), where it won a Special Jury Recognition Award. Home was also an official selection of the Margaret Mead Film Festival. The New York Times called Home a “marvelously revealing documentary about the psychology of poverty.” The film aired on the Sundance Channel, and was distributed by Magnolia Pictures and Netflix. Professor Togman is the author of The Ramparts of Nations, a comparative study of immigration politics in France and the United States. He is also the author and co-author of articles that have been published in PS: Political Science and Politics, Oxford International Review, Conflict Management and Peace Science, International Game Theory Review and Studies in Symbolic Interaction.
