Jürgen Köhler

Biography

Dr. Jurgen Kohler has been the Chief Executive Officer of SGL Carbon SE since January 1, 2014, Chairman of Management Board since June 2013 and also serves as its Member of the Management Board. Dr. Kohler is responsible for Human Resources, Management Development, Legal and Compliance, Corporate Development, Internal Audit and Corporate Communications. He served as Head of Carbon Fibers and Composite Materials (Cf/Cm) Business Unit at SGL Carbon SE. He joined SGL Group in 2002, he has been successful in several different management positions. He has responsibility for the graphite electrodes and the cathodes business and was Head of the Carbon Fibers and Composite Materials (CF/CM) Business Unit. Dr. Kohler is the Chairman of Business Unit Graphite & Carbon Electrodes, Chairman of Business Unit Cathodes & Furnace Linings and Manager Business Analysis of SGL CARBON GmbH. He served as Chairman Business Unit Carbon Fibers & Composite Materials, SGL Technologies GmbH, Wiesbaden, Germany. He began his career in 1992 working for the former Hoechst AG and subsequently Celanese AG for more than ten years, five of which he spent in the USA. He held Management Functions in Production and Technology Acrylic Acid at Celanese AG, Houston/USA. He worked at Engineering Department of Hoechst AG, Frankfurt, Germany. Dr. Kohler serves as a Board Member of SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers GmbH & Co. KG*, Munich, SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers LLC, Charlotte, USA, Benteler SGL GmbH & Co. KG, Paderborn, Germany and Brembo SGL CARBON Ceramic Brakes S.p.A., Stezzano, Italy. Dr. Kohler holds a doctor's degree (Ph.D.) in process engineering. He studied Chemical Engineering from Munich, Germany.
