Volker Wetekam

Biography

Dr. Volker Wetekam has been an Executive Vice President of Global Healthcare IT Division for Agfa HealthCare NV since September 15, 2008. Dr. Wetekam is responsible to implement the overall strategic positioning and roadmap for Agfa HealthCare's IT division, which manages both the Agfa HealthCare's Imaging Informatics and its Enterprise IT business, covering solutions from Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) over Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS) to Hospital and Clinical Information Systems (HIS/CIS). He is also responsible for driving the division's overall profitable growth. He has been Head of Global Solutions of Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. since October 1, 2004, where he is responsible for the Siemens Medical Solutions Corporate CRM activities in the Healthcare sector. From 1994 to 1997, Dr. Wetekam was instrumental in the development of new services as well as the Health Services (HS) product group. Focusing on the subdivision "Managed Healthcare Services - Consulting & Managed Services", he developed as well as headed the subdivision from 1999 to 2000. He spent 18 months in Malvern, the American headquarters of HS. He was assigned full responsibility for the integration of Shared Medical Services (sales, service, cross- business) and in October 2000, he served as Managing Director of German Health Services Organization (development, service, sales). In September 2003, his career took another step forward by heading HS marketing on a worldwide basis. Dr. Wetekam holds a post-graduate degree in Computer Sciences at the European Business School in Frankfurt/Main and a PhD from the University of Leipzig, Germany.
