Biography
Mr. John Groom, also known as George, was the President and Chief Operating Officer of Elan Corporation PLC from January 1997 to 2001. He served as a Director of CV Therapeutics Europe Limited at Gilead Palo Alto, Inc. Mr. Groom served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Athena Neurosciences Inc. from 1987 to its acquisition by Elan in July 1996. From 1960 to 1985, he was employed by Smith Kline & French Laboratories, the pharmaceutical division of then SmithKline Beckman Corporation. Mr. Groom served as Chairman of the International Section of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association.
