Mr. John Groom

Biography

 Mr. John Groom, also known as George, was the President and Chief Operating Officer of Elan Corporation PLC from January 1997 to 2001. He served as a Director of CV Therapeutics Europe Limited at Gilead Palo Alto, Inc. Mr. Groom served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Athena Neurosciences Inc. from 1987 to its acquisition by Elan in July 1996. From 1960 to 1985, he was employed by Smith Kline & French Laboratories, the pharmaceutical division of then SmithKline Beckman Corporation. Mr. Groom served as Chairman of the International Section of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association. He serves as Executive Director at Sirna Therapeutics, Inc. He has been a Director of CV Therapeutics Europe Ltd. since December 2005. He serves as Director of Nautilus Neurosciences, Inc. He served as Director of Ligand Pharmaceuticals Inc., from May 1995 to March 1, 2007. He served as Director of Garnet Biotherapeutics, Inc. since September 2003. He served as Non-Executive Director of Amarin Corp. PLC from May 29, 2001 to May 23,2008. He served as a Director of Gilead Palo Alto, Inc. from May 2001 to December 5, 2005. He served as a Director of Athena Neurosciences Inc., from 1987 until its acquisition by Elan in July 1996. He served as a Non Executive Director of Elan Corporation PLC since July 1996. Mr. Groom is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Accountants (UK)
