Biography
Mary Frances is the former president and CEO of Social & Scientific Systems, Inc., and one of the company's founders. Other boards and advisory groups with whom she has served include the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Easter Seal Society of Greater Washington, the Federal City Council, A Greater Washington, and Impact Silver Spring. She was a member of the Leadership Washington Class of 2001. As CEO, she received a number of awards, including the Women Business Owners of Montgomery County “Athena Award” (2000); Business Gazette Executive of the Year (2001); Finalist, Executive of the Year, Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards (2004); Washington Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” (2004); Small Business Council of America “Humanitarian of the Year (2005); and was a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2006). Since retiring from SSS in 2006, she has served as secretary and member of the Board of Old Rag Master Naturalists; senior warden and Finance Committee chairman of Trinity Episcopal Church; treasurer and member of the Board of Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad; and treasurer and member of the Board of Foothills Forum.
