James Hong

Biography

Mr. Hong has dedicated over 15 years to medical device innovation. Prior to Solinas, Mr. Hong was a R&D consultant at Sadra Medical, a transcatheter valve company, acquired by Boston Scientific. Prior to Sadra, he was Director of R&D at Arbor Surgical Technologies Inc, a minimally invasive aortic valve replacement company. Mr. Hong also held senior R&D engineering positions at Paracor Medical and Guidant Corp, medical device companies developing novel therapies for cardiac and cardiovascular diseases. Mr. Hong started his career at Beth Israel’s Deaconess Medical Center Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory, where he developed methods of using non-invasive imaging modalities as quantitative tools. Subsequently, Mr. Hong joined the Cardiac Biomechanics Laboratory at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, developing computational models to better understand the mechanical effects of surgical therapies on congestive heart failure. Mr. Hong holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively. He has nine issued and five pending U.S. patents and six published peer-reviewed journal articles.
