Biography
Kenneth Olson is a Professor/Extension Specialist-Beef in the Department of Animal Science at South Dakota state University. He has provided Provide Extension programming for beef cattle producers and allied industry, and conduct applied grazing beef cattle management and nutrition research. Extension programming uses a learning community approach to sustain relationships with clientele that maximizes impact, such as beefSD, a 2-year educational program for beginning beef producers. Recent research topics include influence of gestational nutrient restriction on fetal programming, seeking solutions to sulfur toxicity in ruminants, use of biofuel coproducts as beef cow supplements,and influence of prairie dog colonization of rangelands on grazing cattle nutrition and performance.
