Alan Grodin

Biography

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Alan Grodin is a leading physical therapist and developer of successful PT practices in Georgia and other states. Nationally recognized as a master clinician, Alan is extensively published and has created and taught continuing education courses throughout the United States as well as in Japan, Chile, Iceland, and Canada. He is a faculty member of the Physical Therapy Department of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (St. Augustine, Florida), where he has been teaching since 1982. Especially known for his expertise in spine-related physical therapy, Alan has written a textbook on the subject (now in its third edition) and was invited to address the First International Symposium on Orthopedics in Edmonton, Canada. In 2013, he was a keynote speaker at Northeastern University’s Sports Medicine Conference and has frequently presented at national conferences of the American Physical Therapy Association as well as to APTA chapters in Georgia, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. In addition, Alan has commonly treated professional basketball players on the Atlanta Hawks and other NBA teams since 2005. Alan formed his first orthopedic practice in Atlanta in 1982, which was distinguished for its community involvement, patient education programs, and clinical excellence. In 1994, the practice was purchased by a publicly-held national rehabilitation company, which contracted Alan to manage its Southeastern Regional Operation. In this capacity, he successfully directed more than 500 staff members at 95 locations in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. In 2007, Alan founded Sovereign Rehabilitation of Georgia, realizing his personal vision of a truly patient-centered PT practice.
