Shira D. Goodman

Biography

Ms. Shira D. Goodman has been the Chief Executive Officer, President and Director of Staples, Inc. since September 26, 2016. Ms. Goodman served as Interim Chief Executive Officer of Staples, Inc. since June 14, 2016 until September 26, 2016. Ms. Goodman served as the President of North American Operations at Staples, Inc. from January 25, 2016 to June 14, 2016. She served as the President of North American Commercial at Staples, Inc. since February 02, 2014 until January 25, 2016. She served as an Executive Vice President of Global Growth for Staples, Inc., since February 2012 until February 02, 2014 and Executive Vice President of Human Resources since March 2009 and Executive Vice President of Marketing from June 2001 to May 2009. She served as a Director of The Stride Rite Corporation till 2007. She was responsible for the strategic, creative, operational and financial aspects of all Staples' marketing, advertising, public relations and charitable giving programs. She has held several Executive positions since joining Staples in 1992, including Senior Vice President of Staples Business Delivery and Senior Vice President of Staples Direct. She served as a Manager of Bain and Company from 1986 to 1992. She has been a Director of The Stride Rite Corporation since June 2002. She has been an Independent Director of CarMax Inc. since October 17, 2007. Ms. Goodman holds a Master of Management Science degree with a concentration in strategy and marketing from MIT's Sloan School of Management, a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University.
