Frank D. Byrne, M.d.

Biography

    Dr. Frank D. Byrne, MD, serves as the President of St. Marys Hospital Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Byrne served as an Executive Vice President and Foundations President at Parkview Health from 1991 to 2004. From 1991 to 2004, he worked with Parkview Hospital in a variety of leadership roles including Physician Officer and Medical Director and served as President of Parkview Hospital from 1995 to 2002. Dr. Byrne practiced pulmonary and critical care medicine from 1982 to 1994. He served as Director of Dean Health Systems, Inc. He serves as a Director of Dean Health Plan, Inc. He has been an Independent Director of Steel Dynamics Inc. since March 2005. He serves as a Member of Board of Governors at American College Of Health Care Executives and Madison Community Foundation. He serves as a Director of a privately held local Indiana bank and a Midwest regional healthcare group purchasing cooperative. He is a Senior Executive Advisor at HealthX Ventures. He served as a Director of Lincare Holdings Inc., from December 1999 to August 13, 2012. He served as a Director of Parkview Hospital. Dr. Byrne is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, a Fellow and board member of the American College of Physician Executives and a Diplomat and northern Indiana Regent of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has attended the Executive Program at Ross School of Business, University of Michigan and corporate governance education programs at Harvard Business School and the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Byrne holds a B.S. from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.D. from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He holds fellowships in the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Physician Executives.
