Gabriel L. Shaheen

Biography

    Mr. Gabriel L. Shaheen, also known as Gabe, serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of GLS Capital Ventures, LLC. Mr. Shaheen has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry. Mr. Shaheen has been a Partner of NxtStar Ventures LLC since 2000 and serves as its Principal. He retired in 1999 after 22 years of service with Lincoln National Corporation, including service as President & Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln National Life Insurance Company from January 1998 to December 1999 and also served as its Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln National Reinsurance Companies and Managing Director of Lincoln UK from November 1996 to January 1998. Mr. Shaheen served in various capacities, including President and Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln RE from August 1982 to November 1996. He has been the Chairman of Horace Mann Educators Corp., since May 2010 and its Director since September 14, 2007. He has been a Director of M Financial Holdings Incorporated since July 2015. He has been an Independent Director of Steel Dynamics Inc. since September 2009. Since 2000, he has been a Member of GLS Capital Ventures, LLC. He has been Director of Henley HealthCare, Inc. since August 29, 2000. He holds the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation. Mr. Shaheen received a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan in 1976 and Master's Degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Michigan in 1977.
