Biography
Dr. Ann Mooney Murphy is the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies and an Associate Professor of Management at the School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology. She holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management and a M.B.A. from University of Georgia and is a Certified Public Accountant. As Associate Dean, Dr. Murphy oversees all of the undergraduate business programs in the Howe School, including the Business and Technology (B&T), Quantitative Finance (QF), Finance, Management, Information Systems, Marketing, and Economics majors. During her tenure since 2010, she has worked on a number of strategic initiatives for the School of Business. Most notably, she led the launch of five undergraduate majors and seven undergraduate minors, and is leading the Fall 2017 launch of another new major in Accounting & Analytics. She also co-chaired the School's strategic plan and worked with the School's leadership team to transform the School from a School of Technology Management to an AACSB-accredited School of Business. Dr. Murphy conducts research on top executives and strategic decision making, as well as on boards of directors and corporate governance. She teaches strategic management and organizational theory at the undergraduate, graduate, executive and doctoral levels. Dr. Murphy also serves as an independent strategic planning consultant, with a focus on helping executive teams and boards -- in profit and non-profit settings -- develop effective strategic plans. Prior to joining Stevens, Murphy worked as an auditor and consultant for Price Waterhouse Coopers and Arthur Andersen. Throughout her career, Dr. Murphy has received numerous awards for her teaching, research, and leadership. Most recently, she received and 'Exemplary Leadership' award for her contributions to the School of Business at Stevens.
