Elizabeth Moore

Biography

Elizabeth Moore is a newspaper industry veteran who teaches graduate-level courses in investigative reporting techniques, introductory reporting and health, environment, science and technology reporting. As a reporter at Newsday for 16 years, she wrote about business, government and politics, including Hillary Clinton’s campaigns for Senate and the presidency. She wrote an award-winning, eight-day investigative series examining Long Island’s volunteer fire departments that resulted in the passage of 13 state laws, and was a member of the Newsday staff that won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News. Her enterprise reporting has relied on extensive use of the Freedom of Information Law, as well as database and mapping analysis. Previously a reporter at the Tacoma News Tribune, she is a graduate of Brown University and the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
