John Brown

Biography

Mr. John W. Brown serves as a Secretary of St. Lawrence Seaway corp. Mr. Brown served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Stryker Corp. from February 1977 to June 2003. He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Stryker Corp. from June 2003 to December 2004. He started his career as an Engineer for aluminum manufacturer Ormet Corp., before joining Thiokol Chemical Corp. Since 1965, he was employed at Squibb Corp. in various management positions, including Assistant to the President. He served as President of Edward Weck & Company a subsidiary of Squibb Corporation from 1972 to 1977. He serves as the Chairman Emeritus of Stryker Corporation. Mr. Brown served as the Chairman of Stryker Corp. from January 1981 to 2010. He has been a Director at St. Jude Medical Inc. since August 04, 2005 and its Presiding Director since 2006. He has been a Director of GE Medical Systems Lunar since 1988. He serves as a Director of St. Lawrence Seaway corp., Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Arthur D. Little, Inc. He was Director of Southwest Michigan First. He served as a Director of Gen-Probe Inc. since December 22, 2005 until August 1, 2012. He served as a Director of National City Corporation since 1998. He served as Director of Stryker Corp. from 1977 to 2010. He served as a Director of First of America Bank Corporation and its subsidiaries, First of America Bank - Illinois, N.A. and First of America Bank, N.A. since 1992. He served as Trustee Emeritus of Kalamazoo College. He serves as Chair of the Institute for Health Technology Studies. He serves as a Director of the American Business Conference, the Advanced Medical Technology Association, Health Industry Manufacturers Association (HIMA), Washington D.C. and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Food and Drug Law Institute, Washington D.C. Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University.
