Israel Makov

Biography

Mr. Israel Makov serves as an Advisor of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited. Mr. Makov served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Teva Pharmaceutical Finance LLC since April 2002. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, the holding company of TEVA Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. from April 2002 to March 1, 2007. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited since January 1, 2001, Executive Vice President since 1999 and Vice President for Business Development from 1995 to 1999. He founded Israel’s first biotech company, Interpharm. Mr. Makov founded INNI--Israel National Nanotechnology Initiative. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Gottex from 1993 to 1995 and Chief Executive Officer of Yachin Hakal Ltd. from 1991 to 1993. He has been the Chairman of Given Imaging Ltd. since July 2007. He has been the Chairman of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited since May 29, 2012. He serves as the Chairman of Micromedic Technologies Ltd. and Eltav. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Policy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center of Herzliya, President of the Friends of Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel and Chairman of the Friends of Gesher Theatre, one of Israel’s leading theaters. He serves as the Chairman BioLight Life Sciences Ltd (formerly Bio Light Israeli Life Sciences Investments Ltd) and Given Imaging Inc. He served as the Chairman of Axiom Ltd. from 1987 to 1991. He served as the Chairman and Director of Netafim Ltd. until December 2011. He has been a Director of the INNI--Israel National Nanotechnology Initiative since 2003, Micromedic Technologies Ltd since November 21, 2011 and BioLight Life Sciences Ltd. since April 21, 2011. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board at FDNA Inc. He serves as a Director in Companies of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Group Ltd. He serves as a Director of Given Imaging Ltd. and Zetiq Technologies Ltd. He served as a Director at Gmulot Ltd., “Ramot” of the Tel Aviv University from 2001 to January 2006. He served as a Director of Bank Hapoalim B.M. from September 15, 2002 to February 20, 2006. He served as a Director of DeveloGen Israel Ltd. He served on the Board of Governors of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology since 2006 and on the Board of Governors of the Weizmann Institute of Science since 2007. Mr. Makov received a B.Sc in Agriculture from Hebrew University in 1963 and an MSc in Economics from Hebrew University Jerusalem in 1965.
