Biography
Jonathan Bird joined the faculty of the UB Department of Electrical Engineering as Professor in Fall 2004. Prior to this, he obtained his B.Sc. (First-Class Honors) and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from the University of Sussex (United Kingdom), in 1986 and 1990, respectively. He was a JSPS visiting fellow at the University of Tsukuba (Japan) from 1991 - 1992, after which he joined the Frontier Research Program of the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN, also in Japan). In 1997, he was appointed as Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University, where he spent seven years before joining UB. Prof. Bird's research is in the area of nanoelectronics. He is the co-author of more than 300 peer reviewed publications as well as of undergraduate and graduate textbooks.
