Peter Taubkin

Biography

Peter Taubkin joined the Research Foundation for SUNY in May 2011. As Director of External Relations and Corporate Communications Peter leads the RF’s communication efforts to present and promote SUNY research and innovation, and the RF’s supporting role. With over 25 years of experience in public, government, customer, and media relations, Peter came to the RF following 16 years in the cable television industry. As Vice President of Government Relations & Public Affairs for Time Warner Cable’s Albany Division, Peter directed communications, government relations and public affairs strategies in cable territories in upstate New York and western Massachusetts. Before entering the cable industry Peter was an associate counsel in the New York State Assembly. Peter has served on boards and committees for various organizations including the CableTelecommunicationsAssociationofNewYork, Empire State Youth Orchestra, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation . Over the years he has received recognition for publications and community activities including theState University of New York Council for University Advancement (SUNYCUAD) Awards for Excellence for the RF’s annual reports; Corporate Partner Award . He is a past recipient of the Capital District Business Review’s “40 Under 40” Award. Peter is currently a member of the Board of Directors for SUNYCUAD. He earned his JD from New England School of Law and his BA in English and American Studies from Colby College.
