Biography
Dr. Trent Molter has been active in the hydrogen and fuel cell community since 1984. Dr. Molter has developed proton exchange membrane based products for commercial hydrogen production, automotive power and fueling, space and military life support, aircraft environmental control, space propulsion. He lead the technology transfer of GE’s Direct Energy Conversion Operation to United Technologies Corporation. Dr. Molter co-founded Proton Energy Systems, Inc. in 1996 to commercialize PEM electrolyzers and regenerative fuel cells. He was instrumental in Proton’s growth to a publicly traded company with over 140 employees, $160 million in cash and a market capitalization of nearly $1 billion. He is listed as an inventor on over thirty patents for various electrochemical and other novel devices and materials. Dr. Molter holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University, an M.S. in Metallurgy from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Connecticut.
