Biography
DAVID A. LIBERLES is an Associate Professor at Temple University. He received his Ph.D. from California Institute of Technology (1997) with Professor Peter Dervan and undertook postdoctoral studies with Professor Steven Benner, then at University of Florida. Dr. Liberles next spent six years as a group leader in Scandinavia before moving to University of Wyoming. His research centers on the fields of computational molecular evolution and comparative functional genomics.
Research Interest
The Liberles Research Group works in the areas of computational comparative genomics, and molecular evolution. The central theme in the research group is the detection and characterization of the lineage-specific divergence of protein-encoding genes. Much of the work in the group is done in a phylogenetic context. Ultimately, we want to ask the question, “What makes each species unique at the genomic level?”.
