Biography
Shannon Myers Virtue, Psy.D. is an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Sciences, in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Community Oral Health Sciences at Temple University School of Dentistry. She obtained her doctorate in clinical psychology from La Salle University and completed postdoctoral training in clinical health psychology and psycho-oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Dr. Myers Virtue is a licensed clinical psychologist in Pennsylvania, researcher, and educator. She has experience teaching and training students in behavioral sciences across various health professions. Her clinical expertise includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, stress management, and psychotherapy interventions for individuals and families coping with health conditions and chronic illness. Her areas of research interest include dental anxiety, health behavior change, coping with illness, tobacco cessation, and student training. Dr. Myers Virtue has published her research in several peer-reviewed journals and serves as a supervisor for NIH-funded psychotherapy randomized controlled trials.
