Yitzhak Peterburg

Biography

Dr. Yitzhak Peterburg, M.D., Dr.P.H., MSc has been an Interim Chief Executive Officer and Interim President of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited since February 6, 2017. Dr. Peterburg served as a Senior Vice President and Head of Global Branded Products at TEVA Pharmaceuticals from 2010 to 2011. Dr. Peterburg served as Vice President of Global Branded Products at Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited with responsibility for branded products, R&D, business development and in-licensing. Dr. Peterburg served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Cellcom Israel Ltd., from 2003 to November 2005. From 1995 to 1997, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Soroka University Medical Center, Beer-Sheba, Israel. Dr. Peterburg managed Cellcom Israel, Ltd. Immediately after his arrival, he streamlined Cellcom Israel, Ltd.'s laying off hundreds of employees and drawing a lot of criticism and his measure stopped the slide in its results and put it back on the road to rapid growth. He overhauled Cellcom Israel, Ltd.'s service infrastructure and information systems, making them a basis for sustainable growth. From 1990 to 2002 Dr. Peterburg was with Clalit Health Services, where he served as Director General (Chief Executive Officer) from 1997 to 2002 and he held a series of senior executive positions including Head, Health Policy Division and Chief Information Officer, Medical Division from 1990 to 1997. Dr. Peterburg serves as Chairman of the Board of Regenera Pharma Ltd. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited from January 1, 2015 to February 6, 2016. Dr. Peterburg served as the Chairman of the Board of Applisonix Ltd. He serves as a Member of the Advisory Board at CliniWorks, Inc. Dr. Peterburg has been a Director of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited since January 01, 2011 and previously served as its Director from 2009 to July 2010. He served as a Director of Rosetta Genomics, Ltd. from December, 2012 to February 11, 2017. He served as a Director of Applisonix Ltd. He served as a Director of TEVA Pharmaceuticals from 2009 to 2010. He served as a Director of Lumenis Ltd. since December 2006. He served as a Director of Soroka University Medical Center, Beer-Sheva from 1995 to 1997. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Health Services Management. He holds an academic position as Professor in the School of Business, Ben-Gurion University, Beer-Sheva. Dr. Peterburg has a Ph.D. in Health Administration from Columbia University and an M.Sc. in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems from the London School of Economics. He holds an M.D. from Hadassah Medical School in 1977 and is board-certified in Pediatrics and Health Services Management.
